"The Little Prince" is a French-language work, the most famous by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Published in 1943 in New York simultaneously with its English translation, it is a poetic and philosophical tale disguised as a children's story. The language, simple and stripped down, is intended to be understood by children, yet for the narrator, it serves as the ideal vehicle for a symbolic conception of life. Each chapter recounts an encounter of the little prince, leaving him puzzled by the absurd behavior of "grown-ups." Each of these encounters can be read as an allegory. The watercolors are part of the text and contribute to this purity of language: simplicity and depth are the master qualities of the work. It can be read as an invitation from the author to rediscover the child within, for "all grown-ups were once children. (But few of them remember it.)" The book is dedicated to Léon Werth, but "when he was a little boy." Height 6cm Suitable for ages 3 and up
