The common donkey is the domesticated form of the African wild ass. It is undemanding in its diet and adapted to hot temperatures. Often labeled stubborn or foolish when it stops for no apparent reason and refuses to move, the truth is quite the opposite. Donkeys can’t run as fast as horses, so panicking and bolting would be senseless. They first assess the situation and, if they are truly in danger, they choose the best escape route.
