A real gangster's mug, that is the best way to describe Allan Thompson's face. With his shifty eye and thick eyebrows à la Robert Mitchum, his look has something familiar about it. He alone sums up every tough guy of film noir, the faithless, lawless villains, a cigarette forever stuck to his lip.
We all know his weakness for drink, hence this bottle with its all-too-obvious contents. Single malt and blended whisky often stood in for temptation for this old sea dog, who nonetheless stays surprisingly sober throughout this particular scene.
