At 8, a boy wants toys for understanding and toys for bluffing: a fast remote-control car, a Perudo to bluff with the adults, a solar system kit, a miniature house to build, a 500-piece puzzle. The gifts that work look serious, take several sessions, and can be shown to friends.

What an 8-year-old loves

This is the age of methodical curiosity: he wants to know how planets, engines and the human body work, and he reads instructions to the end. Classic board games, Monopoly, Scrabble, Perudo, become family rituals where he negotiates and counts. He loves objects that feel real: a remote control, a microscope, a camera. He can hold a project over several days, a model or crystals, and he collects. Soft toys stay in the bedroom, but he no longer mentions it.

Our gift ideas

To drive

The Panther X2 remote-control buggy at 1/10 scale handles the garden, and the remote-control Ford Puma WRC reproduces Fourmaux's rally car. See our cars, boats and planes.

To play as a family

The classic Monopoly and the Scrabble enter the house for twenty years, Perudo teaches bluffing with dice, Bloops and Cookie Party are played in ten minutes, and the BrainBox Pocket Space comes along in the car. All our board games.

To understand

The Solar System is built and learnt, Dig a Planet Moon is excavated with a chisel, the magic crystals grow in a week, and the galactic explorer kit completes the set. See our arts and crafts.

To build

The Mi House Mia and Mi House Stella kits are miniature house models with their furniture, built over several evenings. The paracord sailor bracelets teach knots.

To think alone

The Astronomy puzzle and the Ocean puzzle have 500 pieces, the format of a rainy weekend. All our puzzles.

To collect and photograph

The 1961 Volkswagen Bus Angel, the police Ford F150 and the Citroën 2CV with its three cyclists join the shelf, the Concorde really flies, and the thermal-print camera prints its photos on the spot. The Seven Crystal Balls in English gets Tintin read in the language of school.

What budget?

Under 20 euros: the Bloops and BrainBox card games, Dig a Planet, the model cars, the bracelets or the Tintin album in English. Between 20 and 50 euros: Perudo, Cookie Party, the Monopoly, the 500-piece puzzles, The Solar System, the Mi House kits, the magic crystals and the explorer kit. Above 50 euros: the Scrabble, the camera, the Ford Puma or the remote-control buggy, for a gift that leaves a mark.

Frequently asked questions

Which remote-control car at 8?

A 1/14 or 1/10 scale car with a real trigger remote, a rechargeable battery and wheels that take gravel. Models at 1/24 and smaller quickly disappoint outdoors.

Which board game at 8?

The classics finally enter the house: Monopoly, Scrabble, Perudo. He reads the rules alone, counts the money and negotiates. Allow an hour per game, and expect to lose.

Can the gift be wrapped?

Yes, gift wrapping is free: tick the box on the product page before adding to cart. Delivery to a pick-up point is free from 80 euros in mainland France, and you can collect your order in our shop at 211 boulevard Saint-Germain, Paris.
