A sensational invention by Professor Calculus starts out by causing havoc at Marlinspike Hall: every window shatters, along with most of the glassware! Sadly, this discovery won't be joining the practical-jokes shelf. Spies try to grab Calculus and squeeze his plans out of him. It turns out the kidnappers are Bordurians, the eternal enemies of the Syldavians, and they are quite set on turning Calculus's invention into a weapon of mass destruction.
