After narrowly missing overall victory at the 24 Hours of France the previous year, Stuttgart's sports car maker Porsche finally managed to triumph in 1970. Driven by Hans Herrmann and Richard Attwood, the red Porsche 917K won the race five laps ahead of teammates Larrousse/Kauhsen. This historic result was rounded off by Porsche victories in every ( ! ) category.
