Why the simplest toys are often the most extraordinary
Electronic toys promise early stimulation and accelerated development. But research in psychology reveals a troubling paradox: faced with sophisticated toys, children vocalise less, vocabulary shrinks, and exchanges become rarer. Conversely, a simple wooden block becomes by turns a sensory discovery, a scientific experiment, a building tool and a trigger for imagination. In our shop on Boulevard Saint-Germain, for 94 years we have observed an unchanging truth: the toys that let the child stay in charge of play are the ones that truly stimulate their development.
