Asterix, first known as Asterix the Gaul, is a Franco-Belgian comic series created on 29 October 1959 by French writer René Goscinny and French cartoonist Albert Uderzo in issue no. 1 of the French magazine Pilote. After René Goscinny's death in 1977, Albert Uderzo continued the series on his own, then handed it over in 2013 to Jean-Yves Ferri and Didier Conrad.
