In Tintin in America (1932), our hero confirms his calling as a righter of wrongs, taking on the mobster Al Capone, the gangsters of Chicago and crooks of every stripe. Already, Herge shows a generous vision of the world, calling out, for example, the behaviour of white men towards Native Americans. Tintin's fame stretches across the Atlantic, so much so that when he arrives in Chicago, in the thick of Prohibition, all the associated bandits and villains lay on a decidedly uncomfortable welcome. Tintin will need every ounce of his courage and wits to survive!
