This fourth episode in the series, and the first album published exclusively by Casterman (the previous ones bore the Editions du Petit Vingtieme stamp) under the title The Adventures of Tintin, Reporter in the Orient, came out in the autumn of 1934 as Cigars of the Pharaoh. Tintin sets off on the trail of opium traffickers across Egypt and India. Port Said, Cairo, the pyramids, the tombs of the pharaohs, the Red Sea, the jungle and its elephants... Tintin is in for some far-from-ordinary adventures: he tries to escape a poison that drives its victims mad, meets an eccentric archaeologist and a Maharaja whose life hangs by a thread...
