Asterix, formerly Asterix the Gaul, is a French comic book series created on 29 October 1959 by French writer René Goscinny and French illustrator Albert Uderzo in issue no. 1 of the French magazine Pilote. After René Goscinny's death in 1977, Albert Uderzo carried on the series alone, then handed it over in 2013 to Jean-Yves Ferri and Didier Conrad.
