When it comes to culinary experiences, Tintin has a feast, and he does so all through his adventures. Whatever the circumstances and wherever in the world he happens to be, the young man always takes the chance to sample all sorts of dishes and, along the way, to learn a thousand and one ways of enjoying them. For him, a meal is above all a special opportunity to discover the cultural traditions of the peoples he meets. And so, in China, at lunchtime, he gladly shares his table with a stranger, as is the custom in the popular street eateries.
This figurine, entirely hand-sculpted, was created from a panel of The Blue Lotus (plate 25, panel D1). Every detail in the scene (bowls, chopsticks, benches and so on) has been reproduced with the greatest care to preserve its realism and, even more so, its authenticity. A chance to travel through the little reporter's plate and to discover, at his side, the bewitching flavours of Asian cuisine.
Metal figurine, hand-painted.
