Tintin's vehicles: the rocket, the submarine, The Unicorn and the collectible cars
The adventures of Tintin are also a wonderful gallery of machines. Hergé, a stickler for documentary accuracy, drew Tintin's vehicles with striking realism: the legendary moon rocket, Professor Calculus's shark-shaped submarine, the three-masted ship The Unicorn, the trawler Sirius and a long series of period automobiles. Here is the guide to the most iconic machines of the saga - each with its role in the albums and the official Moulinsart collectible replica you can find with us.

The moon rocket
Red and white with a chequered pattern, Professor Calculus's rocket is arguably the most famous object in all of comics. Designed in Destination Moon (1953) and launched in Explorers on the Moon (1954), it carries Tintin, Haddock, Calculus and the Thomson and Thompson detectives to our satellite - nearly fifteen years before the real first steps of Apollo 11. Its sleek silhouette has become the very symbol of the adventure and scientific anticipation so dear to Hergé.

The shark submarine
Devised by Professor Calculus in Red Rackham's Treasure (1944), this pocket submarine shaped like a shark allows Tintin to explore the wreck of The Unicorn at the bottom of the ocean. Camouflaged so as not to frighten the real fish, it is one of the most memorable inventions of the brilliant scientist - a little retro-futuristic gem that has become a cult favourite among collectors.

The Unicorn
A magnificent seventeenth-century three-masted ship, The Unicorn was commanded by the knight Sir Francis Haddock, a distant ancestor of Captain Haddock. Its history and the hunt for its treasure are at the heart of the diptych The Secret of the Unicorn / Red Rackham's Treasure. The model of this legendary ship - the very one that Tintin gives to the captain - is a centrepiece for any fan of Hergé's universe.

The Sirius
It is aboard the trawler Sirius that Tintin, Captain Haddock and Professor Calculus set off in search of Red Rackham's treasure, in the album of the same name. This sturdy fishing boat converted into an expedition vessel is inseparable from one of the finest maritime adventures of the series. Its resin replica faithfully recreates its distinctive hull.

🏎️ The collectible automobiles
Hergé reproduced cars with the precision of a goldsmith, to the point that his panels are still used as a reference by automotive historians. Moulinsart produces official replicas of them, mainly at 1/24 scale (with a few exceptional pieces at 1/12), faithful down to the smallest detail.
The Thomson and Thompson motorcycle
Inseparable from their sidecar motorcycle, the detectives Thomson and Thompson make it one of the most memorable comic props in the series: botched chases, skids and spectacular falls are all part of the fun. This 1/24 replica recreates the typical rig from the years when the hilarious duo roamed the roads.

The Sbrodj Custom
In Destination Moon, the atomic research centre of Sbrodj, in Syldavia, houses the preparations for the lunar voyage. The car that drives around there is part of the setting of this adventure in which science takes centre stage. Its 1/24 replica will delight fans of the lunar diptych.

A powerful saloon with American lines, the Roadmaster is the car of the sinister Doctor Müller, one of Tintin's great adversaries. Elegant yet menacing, it accompanies the schemes of the forger-spy. The 1/24 replica faithfully recreates its imposing bodywork.
